physical therapy assistantPhysical therapists have several titles in different countries: in many countries, they are called physiotherapists. Some countries have their own adaption of the word physical therapist, like kinesiologist. They are all part of the corresponding field.

Physical therapists give services that promote, support and rebuild people’s maximum movement and functional ability. They can encourage people at any point of life when function and movement are intimidated by injury, aging, disorders, diseases, conditions or environmental circumstances.

Physical therapists aid people maximize their quality of life, looking at psychological, emotional, physical and social well-being. They work in the health spheres of prevention, treatment/intervention, promotion, habilitation, and rehabilitation.

PT’s are professionally required and needed to qualified to:

  • physical therapy aideundertake a complete examination/assessment of the patient/client or needs of a client group.
  • give consultation within their expertise and determine when patients/clients need to be referred to another healthcare professional.
  • judge the findings from the examination/assessment to make clinical judgments regarding patients/clients.
  • create a diagnosis, prognosis, and plan.
  • implement a physical therapist intervention/treatment program.
  • determine the outcomes of any interventions/treatments.
  • make recommendations for self-management.
